Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (Esma) launched a consumer awareness campaign in Mirdif City Centre in Dubai on 25th September 2014.

The board of directors of Esma, an independent federal authority, is chaired by the minister of environment and water.

During the opening ceremony, UAE Minister of Environment and Water Dr Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahd told that the performance ratings would rank the effectiveness or efficiency of products such as home appliances.

Esma already introduced mandatory Energy Efficiency Labels for products such as air conditioners, washing machines and refrigerators. Only five home appliances were displayed at the stand and among them Gorenje dishwasher.
